Written by Spartanburg native Damon Fordham, Mr. Potts & Me: The Power of Storytelling, tells the touching story of a young boy and his relationship with an elderly neighbor and fatherly figure. The story is set in Charleston, S.C. following the Civil Rights Movement. Many of the events and characters from the book are based on Fordham’s own life, as well as folk tales retold to him by his father.

Fordham is the author of several books and articles, and currently serves as a professor of United States and African-American History at three colleges in the Charleston area. The reading will be free and open to the public.
