Melissa Conroy grew up in a large, talkative, storytelling family. She was the quiet one. Her dad, Pat Conroy, was an author and her mother was an assistant district attorney. It’s hard to say who had more engrossing stories to tell. As a kid, she loved to draw. She didn’t think she would become an author. But, she listened closely to all of the family stories. For a long time, she thought her dad had no job, because he didn’t leave the house to go to work. She liked that about her dad. Since becoming a mother, Melissa has tried her best to work from home herself. She started a handmade doll business called woOberry Dolls. She maintains a studio and has exhibited her work in many places. But, her most proud accomplishments are the two children’s picture books she has published with Blue Apple Books, Poppy’s Pants and Grandma is an Author.
