Whether you’re a longtime local, recent transplant or just in town for a few days, The Underground Guide reveals a side of Spartanburg you probably didn’t know existed. From jam nights to bike trails, from obscure eateries to dive bars, from the queer scene to the nudist camp, this little book has the lowdown on the Hub City’s often-overlooked attractions.
If you’re looking for late-night music, anti-gravity yoga, international groceries, oddball yard art, funky coffeehouses or flea markets, this guidebook is for you. We tell you where to find your music gear, get a tattoo, rent a kayak, and chow down after midnight.
You haven’t experienced all that Spartanburg has to offer until you’ve gone underground.
About the Editor
Joe C. Mullinax grew up in Spartanburg and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in English and advertising. He lived and worked in Yellowstone National Park, San Francisco and Los Angeles as a chef, music retail manager and promotion-guy for Guitar Center. He returned to South Carolina many years later and now is the principal at MoreView Media. When he’s not doing that, he’s busy being a husband, a dad and making an awful racket with drums or a ukulele.
