Still in Print: The Southern Novel Today celebrates eighteen of the best southern novels published over the past fifteen years, from Cold Mountain, One Foot in Eden, and The Road to The Bible Salesman and others as selected by international group of critics. Editor Jan Gretlund, chair of the Center for American Studies at the University of Southern Denmark, will discuss the distinctive characteristics of the modern southern novel. Two of South Carolina’s favorite novelists highlighted in the volume, Josephine Humphreys (Nowhere Else on Earth) and George Singleton (Work Shirts for Madmen) will join in the conversation and read from their novels.
