Kali Fajardo Anstine is next writer in residence
The Hub City Writers Project has selected Kali Fajardo-Anstine of Denver, Colorado, as the fall/spring (2013-14) resident of The Writers House, its new residency program in downtown Spartanburg. Kali received her MFA from the University of Wyoming. Her stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Bellevue Literary Review, Acentos Review, and The Idaho Review. She was awarded a Hedgebrook Residency for women authoring change, and her short story “Remedies” earned a Notable citation in The Best American Series.
She plans to use her time at The Writers House to complete her first book, “Sugar Babies,” a collection of stories that follow the lives of young Latinas in the American West as they attempt to navigate a world of fractured families, absent parental figures, and violent tragedies.
Her residency runs from Sept. 3, 2013, to May 31, 2014.
