The Writing Show: Book Design for Novices
Are you thinking about self-publishing your book? Do you want to assist your publisher with cover ideas?
Join us at the Spartanburg County Public Library Thursday, March 9, at 7 p.m. as two professional book designers discuss the do's and don'ts of designing books. This will be an audio visual presentation, and audience members will have the opportunity to pose questions to our panel. The event is free and open to the public.
April Leidig is a book designer and partner in Copperline Book Services, Inc. of Hillsborough, N.C.—a book design and composition house. April served the University of North Carolina Press as Assistant Production Manager for Design, designing half the list—40 books and jackets a year. Copperline designs and typesets books and jackets for university presses and small local publishers.
Meg Reid has serves as Deputy Director and book designer for Hub City Press since 2013. She has a master of fine arts degree in nonfiction is from University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she also served as Assistant Editor of the literary magazine, Ecotone, and worked for the literary imprint Lookout Books.
This panel will be moderated by Andrew Blanchard, Associate Professor of Printmaking and Photography at Converse College.
