Zach Mueller is first Writers House resident
The Hub City Writers Project has selected Zach Mueller of Columbia, S.C. as the first summer resident of The Writers House, its new residency program in downtown Spartanburg. Mueller has an MFA in creative writing and poetry from the University of South Carolina and is currently teaching in the USC English Department.
A native of Winnsboro, S.C., Zach served as an assistant to poet Kwame Dawes at the USC Arts Institute, has led poetry workshops in schools, and was an intern at the South Carolina Book Festival. His poems have appeared in Gulf Coast, Prairie Schooner, Timber and elsewhere. Zach is working in a book-length poetry manuscript that uses archeology as an historical and cultural framework to explore tensions between material and metaphysical understandings of place.
His residency runs from June 15 to Aug. 30.
Hub City is currently receiving applications for its nine-month residency, which begins Sept. 15. Deadline for applications is June 15. More information is available
